Why it matters
A strong winter travel reason that pairs well with a Menton seaside base.
How to plan your stay
Good for families, especially daytime parades and flower-themed events when available.
Event overview
Nice Carnival is one of Europe's major winter carnivals, with giant floats, illuminated shows, flower battles and a festive atmosphere across the city.
The format usually combines classic carnival parades, evening illuminated processions and Batailles de Fleurs, where performers throw flowers from decorated floats. The 2027 edition has been announced for 9-28 February with the theme Vive l'Amour.
Where it happens
- Main stage and grandstands: Place Massena, 06000 Nice.
- Flower battles and some parades: Promenade des Anglais and nearby seafront areas.
- Ticket desks are usually around Promenade du Paillon and the seafront carnival area.
With children
A strong family event. Daytime parades and flower parades are usually easiest with children; evening shows suit older children and teenagers better.
Official links, tickets and prices
Tickets are sold online on the official carnival website and at local ticket desks.
Recent published ranges: grandstand seats around EUR23-31 for adults and around EUR10-11 for children aged 6-12; standing areas around EUR14 adults and EUR5 children. Check the official site for current prices.
Practical tips
- From Menton, the train to Nice Ville is usually simpler than driving on parade days.
- With children, grandstand seats can make the experience calmer than standing in dense crowds.
- February evenings can feel cool by the sea; bring warm layers and scarves.
