Menton to Monaco
Often one of the simplest options, especially during busy event periods.

Why stay in Menton for Monaco events?
Monaco hosts some of the Riviera's most visible events: Formula 1, the Monaco Yacht Show, the Monaco E-Prix, Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, Jumping International, the International Circus Festival, the Monte-Carlo Rally and gala evenings.
During those dates, staying inside Monaco can be difficult, expensive and crowded. Menton gives you a quieter seaside base with beaches, old-town restaurants and direct regional trains to Monaco-Monte-Carlo.
The advantage is not that you avoid every crowd. The advantage is that you can leave the event zone at the end of the day and return to a calmer coastal town.

Monaco
The easiest way is the train
For most Monaco events, the train is the simplest route from Menton: Menton or Menton Garavan to Monaco-Monte-Carlo. The ride is short, but major events add time at platforms, exits, security barriers and pedestrian routes.
Monaco is compact but vertical. Close on the map can still mean lifts, tunnels, stairs or a longer walk. For a normal Monaco day, leave when convenient; for a major event day, leave earlier than feels necessary.
- Check current train times before leaving.
- Plan the return before evening events.
- Allow extra time for Monaco station exits on race and show days.
Should you drive to Monaco during big events?
Usually, no. Driving can work for quieter plans, mobility needs or private evening arrangements, but for Formula 1, E-Prix and other busy weekends, roads, parking, closures and pick-up points can become the difficult part of the day.
If you must drive, reserve parking where possible and check Monaco event access rules before leaving Menton.
Main Monaco events to plan around
Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix is the biggest crowd magnet and should be treated as a major travel project. Monaco E-Prix is a more compact motorsport weekend, while Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is one of the best spring sport reasons to stay on the eastern Riviera.
Monaco Yacht Show fills Port Hercule with a more business-oriented yachting crowd. Jumping International, the International Circus Festival, Monte-Carlo Rally, Rallye Historique and the Red Cross Gala each need their own timing, ticket and return-transport check.
Best Monaco events by season
Winter is rally and circus season. Spring is strong for tennis, E-Prix and running weekends. Early summer belongs to Formula 1. High summer brings jumping, gala evenings and concerts. September is dominated by the Monaco Yacht Show.
For any event, check the current official page before booking travel. The site event cards keep confirmed and pending dates separate so you do not have to rely on old editions.
A simple one-day rhythm
Start with breakfast in Menton, then take the train to Monaco-Monte-Carlo. Arrive earlier than the official start time if the event is large or ticketed. After the event, avoid rushing straight into the busiest crowd wave.
For family events, keep the day shorter. For Formula 1 and Yacht Show days, plan around crowd fatigue. For gala or evening events, arrange return transport before you leave Menton.
