A small town with a long screen history
Menton is rarely introduced as a film city, yet its steep lanes, Italianate facades, sea views, gardens and border roads have attracted productions for decades. It can play a French Riviera resort, an Italian coastal town, Monaco or an imagined Mediterranean setting without leaving the same compact area.
This guide separates the locations visitors can recognise today from films merely credited as partly shot in Menton. For the latter, it avoids attaching a building or map pin until a reliable scene-by-scene source is available.

The clearest old-town locations: Bond and Grace of Monaco
Never Say Never Again (1983) offers the most recognisable Menton sequence: Bond's motorcycle chase moves from the cemetery side of the old town toward Saint-Michel, Rue Longue, Place du Cap, Quai Bonaparte and the Pascal-Molinari tunnel. Treat the tunnel as a road landmark, not a walking route.
Grace of Monaco (2014) uses the Saint-Michel forecourt and surrounding old-town streets as a picturesque stand-in for Monaco. The film is a fictionalised drama, so use the location as a cinema-and-architecture stop rather than a lesson in Monaco history.

Border road, villa and central streets
The Day of the Jackal (1973) uses the eastern Riviera as a real gateway from Italy into France. The useful public stop is the French-Italian crossing at Pont Saint-Ludovic; pair it with the separate border-walk guide rather than trying to reproduce a driving sequence.
In the Name of My Daughter (2014) used Villa Maria Serena for the Le Roux family villa. The Transporter Refueled (2015) is credited with Menton, including Rue Lépante; Casino Barrière and Promenade du Soleil give useful, publicly accessible context for the town's more modern Riviera screen image without claiming an exact shot position.

Films connected with Menton, but without a mapped stop
Cloclo / My Way (2012), The Son's Room (2001), Amer (2009), Mondo (1995) and The Barefoot Contessa (1954) are all connected with filming in Menton or the wider Riviera. They belong here for film-minded visitors, but publicly available sources do not consistently identify a visitor-ready Menton building for every title.
For these titles, watch first and let the town work as atmosphere: Mediterranean light, gardens, facades, sea roads and the old town. Do not treat a general filming credit as confirmation that a particular street appears in the final cut.

Television appearances
In Agatha Christie's Poirot: The Mystery of the Blue Train (2005), Rue de Bréa is used for a street conversation and Palais Carnolès stands in for a railway station. Méditerranée (2001) uses Menton as the fictional village of Saint-Circe, while Rosemary & Thyme also credits Menton as a filming location.

A self-guided Menton cinema walk
Start at the Cimetière du Vieux Château viewpoint, then walk down through Saint-Michel, Rue Longue and Rue de Bréa. Continue to Place du Cap and Quai Bonaparte for the old-port transition, then choose either a central seafront finish at Casino Barrière and Promenade du Soleil or a separate eastern trip to Villa Maria Serena and Pont Saint-Ludovic.
The compact old-town section takes roughly one to two hours at a slow pace. Check access before planning around managed properties, and use current map and traffic information rather than entering a road tunnel or recreating any vehicle scene.

Stay in Menton for a cinema-focused break
Menton works well as a calm base for an old-town location walk, a cinema evening and wider Riviera culture. Sea View Balcony Studio and Panoramic Sea View Studio suit couples and short stays; Beachside Apartment with Terrace & Parking gives families more space and a practical arrival option. Ask about availability for your dates rather than assuming a particular apartment is open.
