Menton seen slowly
Menton has a way of becoming more legible when you stop trying to collect it. A stair, a lemon tree, an old facade or the colour of the water can be enough for a drawing. This is a personal visual record rather than a definitive map of the town.
Some drawings come from an identifiable Menton view. Others are reconstructed from memory or combine details seen on different walks. Each note below is deliberately modest about what it identifies.
Drawn Destinations
The wider Drawn Destinations collection is an ongoing black-and-white postcard project about the textures, small scenes and ordinary details that make a place memorable.
Menton: first observations
These works are shown as original sheets rather than polished destination images. The paper, line and small irregularities are part of the work.

Sea, lemons and colour notes
Not every image names a place. A hand-drawn collection can preserve a mood, a colour relationship or a fragment seen from a bench as honestly as it can preserve a landmark.

- A suggested view is welcome, but the artist keeps creative control over the final drawing.
- The artist may scan or photograph the work for an archive or portfolio before sending it.
Walk from the drawings
Use these places as a real-world companion to the collection, not as proof that each drawing was made from a particular point. Menton changes with weather, season and the time of day; that is part of the reason to look twice.
